Teri’s daughter, Meghan Bowen, a certified instructor who teaches a number of classes at The Bo Tree, has been with the studio since its start, and was by Teri’s side throughout the journey toward creating a studio that incorporated green ideals.

The materials used in the construction of The Bo Tree, as well as the cleaning supplies used and the products available for purchase, all reflect a concern with eco-friendly practices that has permeated the studio’s design from the ground up.

In conjunction with the green ideal, Teri says she used Vastu Shastra, the ancient Indian science of design, when planning and creating the studio. Along with Yoga and Ayurveda – a system of healthcare and medicinal practices that originated in India – Vatsu Shastra completes the “Vedic mind-body-soul equation,” according to Teri. She notes this is an important component of the equation because “living or working in a space that undermines well-being will end up negating the benefits from practicing yoga and healthy eating.”
